Everything You Need To Know About Ultherapy

Thanks to our fast-paced lives and all that stress that comes with it, many of us start showing signs of ageing like wrinkles as soon as our 20s. It usually happens due to a decrease in collagen leading to sagging and wrinkles. A lot of my patients who are not comfortable with invasive treatments or fillers opt for Ultherapy. Sounds serious? Well, you needn’t worry because I’m going to tell you all about Ultherapy!

How Does It Work?

With the likes of Jennifer Aniston swearing by Ultherapy, more and more of you are curious about this celeb-approved treatment. A non-invasive facelift with no downtime…sounds too good, right?

Ultherapy makes most of the ultrasound energy to lift and tighten the skin naturally—without surgery or downtime. The treatment uses micro-focused ultrasound on the basis of its proprietary visualisation that marks areas where Ultherapy will best show results.

While the ultrasonic energy reaches the same dermal layers (dermis and hypodermis), it generates heat and friction, forming depths of coagulation and helps produce collagen as well as tissue repair. The growth of collagen is what helps skin tightening.

While the ultrasound energy reaches the same layers as a surgical facelift, Ultherapy does so without any cuts or even surgery.

Where Can Ultherapy Be Used?

This treatment is US FDA-approved and is ideal to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles from your face to chest. Many of my patients use it for double chin, jawline and neck tightening.

Is it a comfortable treatment?

Since there are no cuts, it’s not invasive but you may feel slight discomfort during the procedure. A lot of times your cosmetic dermatologist may ask you to take Ibuprofen prior to the treatment to avoid any discomfort. However, the discomfort only lasts during the therapy but not after a session of Ultherapy. There can be tenderness or redness immediately after Ultherapy for which cool compression and OTC gels work just fine.

When do the results start showing?

Some patients see an initial effect right after their treatment, but the real results appear over 2−3 months as new collagen works to lift and tighten skin on the neck, chin and brow as well as smooth skin on the chest. The results stay for anywhere between 6-12 months.

We do have Ultherapy at my clinic ISAAC Luxe, New Delhi.
